Then bursting forth in glorious Day

Up from the grave He rose again.

And as He stands in victory,

Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me.

For I am His and He is mine.

Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death,

This is the power of Christ in me.

From life’s first cry to final breath,

Jesus commands my destiny!

-In Christ Alone

On that glorious day, resurrection's power burst forth swallowing up death's sting, forever settling our debt, demolishing the power of sin over us, and releasing the children of God into a Living Hope and incomparable inheritance. Amen! Thank You Jesus!

I've been thinking a lot this weekend about resurrection's promises. More so than I normally do because this weekend for me is still a time that is so marred by death's stench. This year, for the first time, Easter weekend hit at the same time as the anniversary of my little brother, Anthony's death. On the weekend that he was so tragically snatched from our midst in a way that I doubt my heart will ever comprehend, is the same weekend that my heart rejoices in a God who overcame death once and for all. It can be really difficult for my heart to reconcile those two truths. Yet somehow processing Anthony's death on the same weekend that we celebrate resurrection's hope brings my heart a deep peace. Our hope is beyond this life.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you," -1 Peter 1:3-4

Resurrection Sunday celebrates that the best is yet to come! We are being released into an eternal inheritance that cannot perish or fail. Where this life is marred by sin, death, and brokeness, our inheritance as children of God is marked by eternity, fullness, and incomparable glory.

"Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.  I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.  For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God." -Romans 8:17-20

Praise Jesus! We are children and heirs. Resurrection unlocks inheritance and hope. Let us rejoice in the midst of suffering because there is a glory coming that far outweighs it all.
