Every September we celebrate Central American and Nicaraguan Independence. I love to see our top students honored and our kids performing in their school’s marching bands. It’s so much fun to come out and to see their excitement as they march in the parade. I love celebrating their nation and their personal successes with them!
This month we were blessed to have Don and Emily visit with us (even if it was for just a couple of days). It was wonderful to see these sweet friends and to see Don continuing his water research searching for a cause for the chronic kidney disease that plagues our town. (Unfortunately I had to use an old photo from one of their previous visits because I realized I took no photos while they were here). It was wonderful to spend time with these friends of ours and I cannot wait for their next visit.
This month my dear friend Claudia celebrated her 38th birthday. This woman is just incredible!! She and her husband, Pastor Walther, do more than anyone else to help Cadence and me with the sponsorship program. Cadence and I were able to get Claudia with glitter eggs and we surprised her and took her out for a special birthday lunch in Chinandega. It was such a beautiful time to celebrate this wonderful friend.
Jeff and the baseball ministry are finishing up their second season of the league. This month they have been playing the finals. I really love to come down and watch the games each week. It’s so much fun to cheer on each of our kids and to spend time with Rosita and the Arroyo family. This month little Lisa and I have been spending a lot of time playing together during the games. This girl is so spunky! She makes my life fun.
One Monday while school was out for the Independence day holidays, Cadence and I were able to take Rosita with us to Leon. It was such a fun time hanging out with her and watching her play with the Ruiz kids. Her relationship with their family is so sweet! We just love this girl and love any chance to have extra hang out time with her.
