This month we finished up with our summer sponsorship interns. I’m so thankful for these ladies! They have such beautiful hearts and have been such a joy to work with. I have loved to watch them build relationships in the community, tutor students, fall in love with families and push our youth to step into their giftings. It has been such a pleasure to live and work with them this summer.
At the beginning of this month we re-started our Sunday school program in both Nuevo Amanecer and Candelaria. I have absolutely loved watching these youth step into these new roles! They are doing an incredible job leading their classes. Gissell (pictured above) is one of two teachers who travels to different classes teaching the Bible story. She ran up to me one morning during Sunday school with a HUGE smile on her face and exclaimed, “I love being a Sunday school teacher! I never knew how much I would love it.” I love to see them coming alive in their new service roles.
This month I went to Managua to go to the hospital with my spunky little Lydia and her mom. The news that we received from the doctor was not promising. Even in the midst of bad news, I was glad to be there with Lydia and her mom. Please pray with us for a miraculous healing for this sweet, fiesty girl!
As always I love to work with my little first and second grade loves in Santa Matilde. These kids make my life so much fun! I love to see them grow as readers. I’m so proud of these precious loves.
This month we started a youth leadership class for our teenagers who really desire more with the Lord and are ready to step out and serve. We have been rotating between our regular youth Bible study and this new leadership class. This month our leaders have been focusing on discovering their spiritual gifts and talking about how they can use those gifts to build Kingdom in their communities. It’s so exciting to see these kids discover who they are in the Lord and to really see them step up and use their talents to serve the Lord. I’m so proud of them and excited to see how they will continue to grow throughout this year!
This month we welcomed a new member to our New Song family. Meet Bambino. We got this sweet, cuddly little girl to hopefully rid our house of mice and rats. Unfortunately right now, I think that our rats are bigger than Bambino. Grow quickly little Bambino!
This month we hosted a team from Idlewild Baptist Church in North Carolina. I loved watching their youth work alongside our youth. They played team builders together (pictured above), went into the community to visit homes together, and ran a prayer service to pray for adults from Candelaria and Geto. I love to see these teenagers serving together and enjoying friendship with one another.
This month all of us girls and Jeff went on a hiking adventure through the rain forest in Selva Negra. We had an incredible adventure hiking up through the forest and then trying to come down a very steep and ridiculously muddy trail. It was a rough, hilarious, adventurous outing! I’m thankful for fun days with great community! (pictured after the hike with our warrior faces)
Lisa, I love your updates! I love how much you are empowering young people! I love how people in your community are discovering their gifts and are also seeking to empower others as well. Praying for you!!
