March ’17 Highlights (Photo Blog)
This past month we celebrated Freedom’s first birthday. I can’t believe that it’s already been a year since Diego and Kenia became parents and we welcomed this sIt was sweet to see everyone celebrating his life.
I still love my Esperanza Renace reading group with my sweet Santa Matilde kids. This book group has been so precious! I love to see them falling in love with this story and growing as readers.
In March we took our second field trip of the year. We took our 6th graders from Candelaria, La Isla and Nuevo Amanecer to do a history of Leon tour. These students are incredibly sweet! I loved seeing their kind hearts, watching their joy, and seeing them learn new things about their nation. (All the sixth graders on top of the cathedral).
When Cadence and I returned from Colombia, the Lord was moving among our youth. I love to see how they are growing in Him! Gabriela planned a one day youth retreat for the end of March and I loved to see Marlon and Leo sharing their testimonies with the other youth (Leo pictured above sharing his testimony).
This month my contractor has been out at the Abide Home continue to work on the finishing touches and building in more of the kitchen. I love walking through this house and step-by-step seeing it become a home.
Rhea came in March to complete an internship with New Song for her school. She and three of her daughters are here with us for two months, mid-March to mid-May. They are a beautiful family and we are glad to have them here with us.
BONUS: Every year after the craziness of starting a new school year with all of our students, Cadence and I take a vacation. This year we had the chance to go to Colombia for a week. We explored Bogota and Cartagena. We even had the chance to spend a night at Playa Blanca at the Isla de Baru. Colombia is a gorgeous country and the food is incredible! I’m thankful for our week to explore city streets, snorkle, salsa dance, eat so much delicious food, and soak in all the beauty of this nation. Adventure, beauty, and rest were just what we needed to start this month off right!
